Misai Kucing

Are you the one who has been suffering from pain due to the recurrent formation of kidney stones? There is a simple remedy that has now been clinically proven to inhibit the formation and growth of these stones.

Ongoing trials by lead researcher Dr Sahabuddin Raja Mohamed have shown that extracts from Orthosiphons Stamineus or locally known as Misai Kucing can inhibit the aggregation of calcium oxalate crystals which makes up the stones and reduces the crystals size and smoothens its surface.


Smaller stones less than 5mm have been known to flow out spontaneously through the herbs action by increasing urine output(diuresis). However it does not disturb the body's sodium content.

The extract also reduces uric acid level by blocking its production. About 50% to 60% of kidney stones are uric acid stones. Dr Sahabuddin who is also the senior consultant urologist at Hospital Kuala Lumpuris working closely with the Clinical Research Center and USM.



Studies has shown Misai Kucing is rich in potassium and sinentesin, and has long been used for uranary stones in ASEAN region.

Toxicology studies in the Institute for Medical Research have confirm the extract is safe. The Misai Kucing extracts had non-injurious effects on rats that were fed up to 5 grams.
Apart from kidney stones and gout, Misai Kucing has traditionally been used for athritis, diabetes, hypertension due to its mild diuretic effect.

It basically flushes out acids that irritate and inflame joints out of the system. It has also seem to be gently flush out excess water from joints.
