Varicose Veins

11th November 2008
Varicose Veins is some thing that is quite common among middle age class group and old folks. Although its not fatal but then again, its not some thing that is nice to go through either. In varicose veins, a steady upright position produces stagnation of bloood in the legs, and pressure on veins, which then enlarge. The walls of the veins become relaxed and the veins themselves will often protrude or will press inwardly upon the nerves of the leg sufficiently to cause quite painful symptoms. Ulsers may form on the vein and these ulsers will exude amount of serum and finally blood.

This cannot be cured by lotions or by medications. Surgery is expensive and painful.
Normally in surgery, the entire section of the veins will be removed. Temporary relief can be obtained with an elastic stocking (which makes the vein weaker and causes addtional trouble) but the trouble will return. The first sign of trouble is a dull and aching painful sensation. The veins become much larger, knotted and distended and sometimes burst.
